How it works
How to use the plumbing cost calculator
- 1. Pick the service. Drain cleaning, water heater, leak repair, toilet, sewer, or repipe — each has its own rate range.
- 2. Enter home age. Older homes (pre-1980) often have galvanized, cast iron, or lead supply lines that add labor time.
- 3. Pick urgency. Standard scheduling, same-day, or 24/7 emergency. Emergency adds urgency premium.
- 4. Read the estimate. Range includes labor + common parts. Permit and specialty parts quoted separately after inspection.
FAQ
Plumbing cost calculator — common questions
How accurate is this estimate?
It's based on typical 2026 San Diego plumbing pricing — not a quote. Actual cost depends on accessibility, pipe condition, and code compliance work revealed during the inspection. We provide a flat-rate written quote before any work starts.
Does the estimate include permit fees?
No — permit fees are separate and vary by jurisdiction ($75–$450 for most residential plumbing permits in San Diego County). We pull permits on your behalf and pass through the permit cost at city rate.
Why is emergency service more expensive?
After-hours (8 pm–6 am) and weekend dispatch adds a modest urgency premium (typically 20–35%). Holiday rates are the same as nights/weekends. We never charge a trip fee.
What if the problem is bigger than the estimate?
We stop work and give you a written revised quote before continuing. The original diagnostic fee is credited toward whatever repair you ultimately approve. No bait-and-switch.
